Give Your Child the Gift of Health and Happiness
If you happen to be the parent of a 3 or 4 year old, you may understand how hard it can be at times to keep your child engaged and acting appropriately. In these formative years, finding the right learning games for kids can be incredibly important and with kindergarten not starting until the age of 5, unfortunately parents are the ones left most of the time trying to figure out how to keep their preschooler actively learning and growing in a positive way.
These days with the bad economy, parents often find themselves in survival mode looking to simply provide for their children and finding it challenging to give the time and attention necessary to truly nurture a child’s skills and talents and get them actively learning the things that will help them create their own identity later on in life. Children are naturally curious during these years and absorb information much like a sponge, so while engaging the young preschooler’s mind isn’t that difficult it still requires a level of time commitment and patience that unfortunately our modern world rarely allows.
In addition to preschooler’s need to learn new things and absorb new information, they are also becoming more aware of how to physically move and run. At any age activity is important, but for 3 and 4 year olds, the sports and games they play can become a very important part in the child’s coordination and general interest towards sports and competition.
According to sports scientists, active kids not only become taller adults, but years of research proves, active kids are happier, more sociable, better behaved, and even tend to do better in school! If you’re not influenced by positive data findings, there is also the issue of childhood obesity, which according to the US Center for Disease Control (CDC), obese children are likely to become obese adults. This comes with a higher risk for heart disease, diabetes, stroke, cancer and osteoarthritis as they get older.
The CDC advises that kids should get an hour or two of active movement daily. Activities can range from informal play to organized sports. The important thing is just to get them moving and hopefully having fun, since that will just encourage them to continue their active lifestyle later on in life too.
Fortunately these days an amazing new preschool is opening for you just in time for the 2011-2012 school year inside of the Emerald City Gymnastics academy.
